Dushkin, Samuel

(Born; Suwaki, 13 Dec 1891; Died; New York, 24 June 1976). American violinist of Polish birth. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire and with Auer and Kreisler in New York. After his début with the New York SO in 1924 he became identified with contemporary music; he toured extensively with Stravinsky, giving the premières of the Violin Concerto (1931) and the Duo concertante (1932).(c)Groves Dictionaries, MacMillan Publishers Limited, UK
