Boellmann, Léon
Biography
Boëllmann, Léon (Born; Ensisheim, 25 Sept 1862; Died; Paris, 11 Oct 1897). French organist and composer. He studied at the Ecole de Musique Classique et Religieuse, Paris, and was organist of St Vincent-de-Paul; he also taught improvisation and contributed to L'art musical. His output is typified by the modal and liturgical organ works in Douze pièces op.16 (Circa;1890), but his best-known piece is the Suite gothique (1895).(c)Groves Dictionaries, MacMillan Publishers Limited, UK
