(Born; Rosnay, Marne, 24 Aug 1837; Died; Paris, 11 June 1924). French composer, teacher and organist. After a rigorous training, he devoted himself to composing church music, serving as maître de chapelle of SteClotilde, Paris, where he produced his oratorio Les sept paroles du Christ (1867), and later of the Madeleine, and to teaching at the Conservatoire.
