Didgeridoo Solo
Traditional
Didgeridoo Solo
Only found in Northern Australia, the Didgeridoo is an ancient, Aboriginal forebear of
the tuba, several feet in length made of bamboo or wood. The fundamental low pitch
of the instrument is modified by higher partials and broader tones effected by the
player singing into the instrument while blowing. As can be heard in the present piece,
the result is a fascinating array of tone-colours, pitches and rhythms. A percussive
element may also be introduced by tapping on the instrument itself.
