Graham Instrall: Chasm (1996)
In memory of Graham Cole (1969-95)

When I first met Graham Cole at the Guildhall of Music and Drama, it was quite clear that this young percussionist was destined for great things. He was extremely talented and loved by all. I worked with him on many occasions and knew him to be kind, generous and very supportive.

‘Chasm" (expressing the emptiness left by Graham’s death) is a celebration of life. It is a simple setting of the Kyrie, Gloria and Sanctus that was inspired by the memories of some great times together. Written for and premiered by Daniella Ganeva and Cantate Youth Choir under the direction of Michael Kibblewhite, I am proud to say that its first performance raised almost 600 for the Luton Hospice where Graham spent his last weeks.
