1999 GMN.COM launches GMN.RealChannel
The new RealChannel to provide classical and jazz music, upcoming music events, video interviews, and educational information. February 12, 1999 - Global Music Network, (GMN.COM), the recognised leader in classical music on the Internet, today announced that it has launched a new RealChannel, directly integrated into the RealPlayer, which enables users around the world to have free and immediate access to entire musical works, video interviews of the artist, and full background information about the artist and the music. The site also includes educational and multimedia programs about music and the creative process behind it - all available within a single mouse click.

The GMN.RealChannel will be launched today as part of RealNetworks’ release of the multiple language versions of its RealPlayer software. David Atherton, conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic and GMN.COM co-founder remarks, A large number of our users are from Europe, proving that Europe is approaching the US in terms of Internet usage. Working with RealNetworks to produce the GMN RealChannel is an easy way for our audience to listen to music. Through a single click on the user's RealPlayer G2, the user can experience complete works of music - not just thirty seconds snippets. As a musician, I am very sensitive to the quality of music, and so is our audience. G2 enables us to provide and retain the quality of music we provide across the Net.'

Mike Lubin, Chairman and CEO of GMN.COM adds that 'The announcement today is the first in a series which will establish GMN.COM as THE internet portal for Classical and Jazz music.'

Francois Mazoudier, director of marketing, RealNetworks, Europe, says: 'The development of International channels is an important step for RealNetworks and our customers. GMN.COM is one of the first channels to truly bring all the pieces together: users can now access music, information, reviews and more. We see a lot of value in providing listeners with a complete environment. We are delighted to have GMN as a content partner for our new G2 RealPlayer
